AUGUST 8: An Air India Express plane with 191 people on board has crashed at an airport in the southern state of Kerala, officials say.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is reported that Air India Express AXB1344, B737 Dubai to Calicut, person on board 191, visibility 2000 meters, heavy rain, after landing Runway 10, continue running to end of runway and fell down in the valley and broke down in two pieces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At least 11 persons, including the pilot and co-pilot, have been killed as an Air India Express aircraft carrying 191 passengers (including crew) skidded off the tabletop runway and fell into a 30-feet valley, breaking into two pieces while landing at Kerala\u2019s Kozhikode airport late Friday evening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Several passengers have been injured and rushed to a medical facility. Initial reports say the incident took place at around 8.15 pm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Distressed to learn about the tragic accident of Air India Express aircraft in Kozhikode, Kerala. Have instructed NDRF [National Disaster Response Force] to reach the site at the earliest and assist with the rescue operations,” Home Minister Amit Shah tweeted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As per the initial reports rescue operations are on and passengers are being taken to hospital for medical care, as said by the civil aviation ministry, adding that there was no fire on board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
