The new policy would also see an overhaul of the system in place in higher education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">PROPOSED PROVISIONS UNDER THE NEW EDUCATION POLICY 2020 \u2013<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Plans to change the pedagogical structure from the existing 10 + 2 scheme to a 5 + 3 + 3 + 4 scheme<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Proposal for removing Board exams for class 10th<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Classes from 9th to 12th will be divided into eight semesters<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Language and mathematics will be emphasised from classes 1 to 3<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The medium of instruction to be the mother tongue or local language till class 5 and preferably till class 8 and beyond.<br>No English to be taught until class 5. There will be an option to continue English education from class 8.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Plans for Foreign Investment (FDI) and external commercial activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Program for urban local bodies with the aim of giving internship opportunities to young engineers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Proposal for National Police University and National Forensic University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">10)Top 100 universities to start completely online education programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">11)Proposal to build digital infrastructure in the country to support online education and bridge the digital divide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Plans for developing virtual labs, strengthen online exam process, separate digital unit in the Education Ministry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">More stress on sports and physical education will be paid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Moreover, UG degree will have Multiple Exit Points \u2013 The undergraduate degree will be of either 3 or 4 year duration, with multiple exit options within this period, with appropriate certifications. E.g. A certificate after completing 1 year in a discipline or field including vocational and professional areas, or a diploma after 2 years of study, or a Bachelor\u2019s degree after a 3-year programme.
