{"id":65504,"date":"2026-03-25T11:47:36","date_gmt":"2026-03-25T11:47:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/earlypostdaily.com\/index.php\/2026\/03\/25\/aditya-birla-group-led-consortium-emerges-top-bidder-for-rcb\/"},"modified":"2026-03-25T11:47:36","modified_gmt":"2026-03-25T11:47:36","slug":"aditya-birla-group-led-consortium-emerges-top-bidder-for-rcb","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/earlypostdaily.com\/index.php\/2026\/03\/25\/aditya-birla-group-led-consortium-emerges-top-bidder-for-rcb\/","title":{"rendered":"Aditya Birla Group-Led Consortium Emerges Top Bidder for RCB"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Mumbai:<\/strong> A consortium led by the <strong>Aditya Birla Group<\/strong> has emerged as the lead bidder to acquire <strong>Royal Challengers Bengaluru<\/strong> for a staggering <strong>USD 1.78 billion (approximately Rs 16,706 crore)<\/strong>, sources said on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>The consortium includes global investment firm <strong>Blackstone<\/strong>, led by CEO <strong>Viral Patel<\/strong>, <strong>Bolt Ventures<\/strong> owned by American investor <strong>David Blitzer<\/strong>, and media conglomerate <strong>Times of India<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>According to sources, the group has reached an agreement with <strong>United Spirits Limited<\/strong> (USL) to acquire a 100 per cent stake in the franchise, which includes both the men\u2019s and women\u2019s teams. USL, a subsidiary of <strong>Diageo<\/strong>, had been looking to exit ownership as the franchise was no longer central to its business strategy.<\/p>\n<p>As per the proposed arrangement, <strong>Aryaman Vikram Birla<\/strong>, Director of Aditya Birla Group, is set to become the chairman of the franchise, while <strong>Satyan Gajwani<\/strong> of Times of India will serve as vice chairman.<\/p>\n<p>However, the deal is subject to approvals from the <strong>Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)<\/strong>, the IPL Governing Council, its Women\u2019s Premier League counterpart, and the <strong>Competition Commission of India<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The development comes after the earlier high-profile acquisition of <strong>Rajasthan Royals<\/strong> by a US-based consortium led by <strong>Kal Somani<\/strong> for <strong>USD 1.63 billion (around Rs 15,290 crore)<\/strong>. The consortium included <strong>Rob Walton<\/strong> of the Walmart family and members of the Hamp family associated with <strong>Ford Motor Company<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Kal Somani, an Arizona-based entrepreneur, is known for founding ventures such as <strong>IntraEdge<\/strong>, <strong>Truyo.Ai<\/strong> and <strong>Academian<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Other contenders in the race to acquire RCB included a Times Internet-led consortium and the Mittal family led by <strong>Aditya Mittal<\/strong>, CEO of <strong>ArcelorMittal<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>If approved, the deal would mark one of the biggest franchise acquisitions in the history of the <strong>Indian Premier League<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mumbai: A consortium led by the Aditya Birla Group has emerged as the lead bidder to acquire Royal Challengers Bengaluru for a staggering USD 1.78 billion (approximately Rs 16,706 crore), sources said on Tuesday.
