Chief Minister Omar Abdullah<\/strong> on Thursday inaugurated newly constructed residential blocks at Ahata Amar Singh<\/strong> and Sarwal<\/strong>, marking a major step toward strengthening housing infrastructure for Government employees associated with the Darbar Move<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The Chief Minister formally opened the facilities by cutting the ceremonial ribbon, accompanied by Advisor Nasir Aslam Wani<\/strong>, Additional Chief Secretary (Estates) Shaleen Kabra<\/strong>, Director Estates Ashwani Khajuria<\/strong>, Deputy Director Estates Jammu Dr. Vikas Sharma<\/strong>, and other senior officials.<\/p>\n

56 New Flats Built as G+6 Structures<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The two newly inaugurated blocks comprise 56 compact two-room residential flats<\/strong>, built as Ground + 6-storey<\/strong> structures.<\/p>\n

Each flat includes:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • 2 bedrooms<\/li>\n
  • a lobby\/living room<\/li>\n
  • kitchen<\/li>\n
  • 2 washrooms<\/li>\n
  • balcony<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    The design focuses on cost-effectiveness<\/strong>, optimal space utilisation<\/strong>, and improved living facilities<\/strong> for Government employees.<\/p>\n

    CM Reviews Facilities, Praises Design and Quality<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    Omar Abdullah inspected the units, expressing satisfaction with the aesthetic appeal<\/strong>, functional layout<\/strong>, and quality of construction<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

    He said the project would significantly reduce accommodation shortages<\/strong> and offer employees modern, comfortable living spaces<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

    Modernisation Plan Underway<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    Director Estates Ashwani Khajuria<\/strong> informed the Chief Minister that the project prioritised structural safety<\/strong>, functionality<\/strong>, and affordability<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

    He added that the Estates Department is preparing a phased modernisation plan<\/strong> for old Government residential colonies.<\/p>\n

    Deputy Director Estates Dr. Vikas Sharma<\/strong> briefed the CM on quality-control mechanisms and the progress of ongoing housing projects.<\/p>\n

    Government Exploring High-Rise Housing Solutions<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    Addressing the gathering, Omar Abdullah reaffirmed the Government\u2019s commitment to creating safe, planned and modern residential infrastructure<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

    He recalled his earlier inspection in November after the Darbar Move was restored following a four-year gap and reiterated directives to:<\/p>\n

    • optimise land use,<\/li>\n
    • replace unsafe structures with modern units,<\/li>\n
    • adopt vertical and high-rise designs<\/strong>, and<\/li>\n
    • ensure fair allocation of quarters across employee categories.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      He stressed that vertical housing solutions would help bridge the accommodation gap and enable efficient utilisation of limited land resources.<\/p>\n
