Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha<\/strong> on Tuesday visited the districts of Kathua and Samba<\/strong>, where he laid the foundation stone for the construction of 449 new houses<\/strong> for families whose homes were destroyed during recent natural calamities.<\/p>\n

According to officials, 344 houses<\/strong> completely damaged in Kathua will be rebuilt at a cost of \u20b934 crore<\/strong>, while 105 houses<\/strong> affected by flash floods in Samba will be reconstructed at a cost of \u20b910.50 crore<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

NGO to Finance Modern Three-Bedroom Homes<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The construction of the three-bedroom pre-fabricated \u201cSmart Houses\u201d<\/strong> will be financed by the NGO High-range Rural Development Society (HRDS India)<\/strong>, which will also ensure that homeowners receive modern facilities and amenities<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Addressing the gathering, the LG praised HRDS India for its humanitarian support, saying:<\/p>\n

\u201cUnity is strength. Collective action can surmount challenges which appear unconquerable. Welfare of the people of J&K is our top priority and we are committed to fulfilling their aspirations.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

First Phase: 1,500 Climate-Resilient Smart Homes<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The first phase of the initiative includes the construction of 1,500 modern, climate-resilient houses<\/strong>, equipped with:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • Three bedrooms<\/li>\n
  • Boundary walls<\/li>\n
  • Cowsheds<\/li>\n
  • Technologically advanced, disaster-resistant designs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    All homes are expected to be completed within six months<\/strong> of the foundation-laying.<\/p>\n

    HRDS India will also provide:<\/p>\n

      \n
    • Free life insurance for 15 years<\/strong><\/li>\n
    • Annual free health check-ups<\/strong> for all family members<\/li>\n
    • Maintenance of the houses for five years<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      The LG directed district officials to ensure no eligible beneficiary is left out<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

      Assistance Distributed; New Indoor Stadium Inaugurated<\/strong><\/h3>\n

      Financial assistance of \u20b98.22 crore in Kathua<\/strong> and \u20b91.38 crore in Samba<\/strong> was disbursed to affected families.<\/p>\n

      During his tour of Kathua, Sinha also inaugurated a state-of-the-art Indoor Sports Stadium<\/strong>, developed through a partnership between the district administration and corporate houses. The complex includes outdoor basketball and volleyball courts<\/strong> for enhanced youth engagement.<\/p>\n

      \u201cPost-2019 Development Has Transformed Kathua and Samba\u201d<\/strong><\/h3>\n

      Sinha highlighted the rapid development in both districts, stating that major improvements have been made across infrastructure, education, healthcare, employment, and social justice sectors.<\/p>\n

      He appealed to citizens and stakeholders to ensure the momentum of development continues<\/strong>, adding that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi\u2019s<\/strong> leadership, \u201ca new history of inclusive growth is being scripted in J&K.\u201d<\/p>\n
