SRINAGAR, Oct 30:<\/strong> The Minister for Jal Shakti Department, Javed Ahmad Rana, announced today that a policy for the regularization of daily-wagers is currently under consideration. This statement came in response to a question from Legislator Dr. Sajjad Shafi in the Legislative Assembly.<\/p>\n

The Minister highlighted a pressing issue of staff shortages resulting from the retirement of multiple field employees within the department. He noted the current staffing situation, revealing that out of the required positions, only 125 Assistant Linemen<\/strong> are available while just eight Lineman posts<\/strong> remain vacant in the PHE Sub-Division Uri.<\/p>\n

To maintain continuous water supply and ensure the operation and maintenance of various Water Supply Schemes (WSS), Rana emphasized that interim measures are in place. The department has taken steps to redeploy available manpower, which includes both regular employees and daily-wagers. This arrangement aims to alleviate the impact of vacant positions until they can be filled through formal recruitment or promotion according to departmental guidelines.<\/p>\n

In recent years, the increasing demand for reliable water supply has placed additional pressure on the Jal Shakti Department. With a significant number of field employees retiring, there has been an urgent need to regularize daily-wagers who have been working alongside regular staff.
