The Union Minister expressed optimism that Jammu & Kashmir could emerge as a key player in India\u2019s innovation-centric economic development in the next two decades.<\/p>\n
“The launch of ATL Sarthi not only celebrates Kashmir University\u2019s role in positioning J&K as a mainstream player in our national growth but also signifies AIM’s commitment to expanding its innovation network in this vital Union Territory,” he stated.<\/p>\n
To amplify this innovation landscape, Dr. Jitendra Singh announced the establishment of 500 new Atal Tinkering Labs (ATLs) in Jammu & Kashmir. This initiative leads the allocation of a total of 2,500 labs sanctioned for frontier regions, with a significant investment of \u20b9100 crore.<\/p>\n
The newly set up ATLs will provide local school students with access to advanced tools in robotics, 3D printing, and artificial intelligence, equipping them to innovate from an early age.<\/p>\n

He elaborated, “India\u2019s space economy has exploded from near zero to $8 billion and is on track to reach up to $45 billion in the next decade. More than 400 startups are actively contributing to this sector.”<\/p>\n
In emphasizing the necessity of public-private partnerships for sustainable growth, he remarked, \u201cOur approach must include private players. Programs like InSpace for space research and BIRAC in biotechnology demonstrate the success of such collaborative efforts.\u201d<\/p>\n
Focusing on Jammu & Kashmir\u2019s emerging potential in sectors like the Aroma Mission, Dr. Jitendra Singh revealed that around 3,500 startups related to lavender and floriculture now thrive in the region. He encouraged youth to transition from corporate jobs to entrepreneurial ventures, fostering a new wave of opportunities beyond traditional government roles.<\/p>\n
On the innovation front, the Minister highlighted that 50 students from J&K ranked among the top 1,000 in the national School Innovation Marathon, showcasing the burgeoning talent in the region. He urged students and parents to recognize that successful startups can thrive even outside metropolitan areas, with nearly half of India’s startups emerging from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.<\/p>\n
