New Delhi, May 28<\/strong> \u2013 The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)<\/strong> has invited the chiefs of the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force<\/strong> to attend the IPL 2025 final<\/strong> on June 3<\/strong> in Ahmedabad<\/strong>, where the event\u2019s closing ceremony<\/strong> will feature a special tribute to the armed forces<\/strong> for their valour during Operation Sindoor<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia<\/strong> confirmed the development in an official media statement on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have extended an invitation to all Indian Armed Forces chiefs, top-ranked officers, and soldiers for the IPL final in Ahmedabad to celebrate the success of Operation Sindoor,\u201d Saikia told PTI.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tribute to Armed Forces<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Saikia emphasized that the BCCI salutes the bravery, courage, and selfless service<\/strong> of the Indian armed forces. He described Operation Sindoor as a symbol of national strength and resolve<\/strong>, and said the tribute is meant to reflect the nation’s gratitude.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a tribute, we have decided to dedicate the closing ceremony to the armed forces and honour our heroes. While cricket is a national passion, there is nothing greater than the sovereignty, integrity, and security of our country,\u201d he said.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Service Chiefs Invited<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The invitation has been extended to the following top military officials:<\/p>\n

    Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh<\/strong> \u2013 Chief of Air Staff<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Several decorated officers and soldiers are also expected to attend the match, which promises to be a grand celebration of sport and national pride<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

    Backdrop: Operation Sindoor<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    Operation Sindoor<\/strong> was launched in response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam<\/strong>, where 26 people<\/strong>, including many tourists, were killed by Pakistan-backed terrorists<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

    India\u2019s swift military retaliation led to a brief but intense stand-off with Pakistan<\/strong>, which eventually appealed for a ceasefire<\/strong>. The operation, seen as a tactical success, drew praise for its precision and restraint, and restored public confidence in national security.<\/p>\n
