Chandigarh<\/strong> \u2013 In a sweeping crackdown against the drug menace, Punjab Police on Thursday carried out a massive cordon and search operation<\/strong> across all 28 police districts of the state, targeting bus terminals and suspected drug smuggling hotspots<\/strong> under the ongoing \u2018Yudh Nashian Virudh\u2019 (War Against Drugs)<\/strong> campaign.<\/p>\n

The drive, launched two-and-a-half months ago<\/strong> under the directive of Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav<\/strong>, continues to gain momentum as law enforcement authorities seek to dismantle Punjab\u2019s entrenched narcotics networks.<\/p>\n

Statewide Operation Monitored at the Top<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The latest phase of the operation was closely supervised by Special DGP (Law and Order) Arpit Shukla<\/strong>, who directed police commissioners and senior superintendents of police to deploy heavy police forces<\/strong>. All deployments were led by SP-rank officers<\/strong> to ensure tight security and effective enforcement.<\/p>\n

Over 1,200 police personnel<\/strong>, organized into more than 200 teams<\/strong>, fanned out across the state to conduct raids and inspections at bus stands and surrounding areas. A total of 481 suspicious individuals<\/strong> were screened during the course of the day.<\/p>\n

Raids and Arrests Surge as Campaign Progresses<\/strong><\/h3>\n

In addition to the bus stand operation, Punjab Police conducted raids at 486 locations<\/strong> on Thursday alone, resulting in the arrest of 124 alleged drug smugglers<\/strong> and the registration of 83 FIRs<\/strong>, according to an official police statement.<\/p>\n

Since the start of the campaign, a staggering 11,208 drug-related arrests<\/strong> have been made in just 75 days<\/strong>, reflecting the aggressive pace of the anti-drug push.<\/p>\n

Thursday\u2019s operations yielded significant seizures, including:<\/p>\n

    Demolition of Drug Dens in Gurdaspur<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    In a dramatic move in Gurdaspur district<\/strong>, authorities used a bulldozer<\/strong> to demolish the illegally constructed homes of two alleged drug smugglers<\/strong> in Dida Sansia village<\/strong>. According to SSP Aaditya<\/strong>, the homes were built on encroached land owned by the Water Resource Department<\/strong>, and both accused have a history of criminal involvement<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

    Comprehensive Strategy to Eradicate Drugs<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    Special DGP Arpit Shukla reiterated Punjab Police\u2019s commitment to the three-pronged \u2018EDP\u2019 strategy \u2013 Enforcement, De-addiction, and Prevention<\/strong> \u2013 being implemented in coordination with the state government<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

    \u201cWe will not relent until Punjab is free from the scourge of drugs,\u201d Shukla affirmed.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

    As part of the de-addiction initiative, the police have also motivated 116 individuals<\/strong> to voluntarily undergo rehabilitation treatment<\/strong>, emphasizing the campaign\u2019s humane and reformative approach<\/strong> in addition to strict law enforcement.<\/p>\n
