New Delhi \u2014 In a scathing statement, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri on Friday condemned Pakistan\u2019s attacks on religious sites in India, including a gurdwara in Amritsar and a religious site in Poonch, calling Islamabad\u2019s attempt to blame India \u201cpreposterous\u201d and part of a dangerous disinformation campaign.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe idea that India would attack its own cities is the kind of deranged fantasy only the Pakistani state can come up with,\u201d Misri said at a media briefing.<\/strong><\/p>\n Misri accused Pakistan of desperately trying to inject a communal angle into the escalating crisis, warning that Islamabad\u2019s \u201cfarcical denials\u201d<\/strong> and \u201cblatant lies\u201d<\/strong> would fail to deceive the global community.<\/p>\n Tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors soared following India\u2019s precision strikes on terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir under Operation Sindoor<\/strong> on Wednesday. Among the targets was Bahawalpur\u2019s Markaz Subhan Allah, the Jaish-e-Mohammed nerve center tied to the 2002 murder of Wall Street Journal journalist Daniel Pearl.<\/p>\n \u201cBahawalpur is JeM\u2019s headquarters. Its leader Masood Azhar is a UN-proscribed terrorist,\u201d Misri said, underscoring India\u2019s resolve against cross-border terrorism.<\/strong><\/p>\n Amid heightened tensions, India announced the suspension of the Kartarpur Sahib corridor, a key religious route for Sikh pilgrims, citing grave security concerns.<\/p>\n Misri dismissed as \u201cblatant lies\u201d<\/strong> Pakistan\u2019s claim that India had used drones to attack the revered Nankana Sahib Gurdwara.<\/p>\n \u201cPakistan is trying to stoke communal discord.
