The Supreme Court of India<\/strong> on Monday emphasized the need to preserve the decorum and reputation of the judiciary<\/strong>, following allegations made by a parliamentarian targeting Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The bench, comprising Justice Surya Kant and Justice N. Kotiswar Singh<\/strong>, made the remarks during a hearing on a PIL filed by advocate Vishal Tiwari<\/strong> regarding hate speeches<\/strong> and violence in West Bengal\u2019s Murshidabad district<\/strong> in the wake of protests against the Waqf (Amendment) Act<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Referring to BJP MP Nishikant Dubey\u2019s controversial comments<\/strong>, Tiwari told the court that the parliamentarian accused the Chief Justice of causing \u201ccivil wars\u201d and questioned the court\u2019s role in law-making, suggesting that \u201cParliament and assemblies should be shut.\u201d<\/p>\n

In response, the court advised restraint.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe should maintain certain decorum and the reputation of the institution, even in making allegations. In an Article 32 petition, the content must remain respectful,\u201d<\/em> the bench remarked.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The bench allowed Tiwari to amend his petition<\/strong> and submit more concrete evidence<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe BJP respects the judiciary as an inseparable pillar of democracy,\u201d<\/em> Nadda said.<\/strong>
He also directed party leaders to avoid making such statements in the future<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
