The central government on Tuesday denied allegations of discrimination in MGNREGA fund distribution<\/strong>, as opposition MPs protested in Lok Sabha<\/strong> over delayed wage payments<\/strong> under the rural employment scheme.<\/p>\n

During Question Hour<\/strong>, DMK and Trinamool Congress (TMC) MPs stormed the well of the House<\/strong>, prompting Speaker Om Birla<\/strong> to urge them to return to their seats. As the protests continued, the House was adjourned till 12 PM<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\ud83d\udd39 MGNREGA law mandates 0.05% interest penalty<\/strong> for payments delayed beyond 15 days<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Minister of State for Rural Development Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani<\/strong> refuted claims of fund withholding:<\/p>\n

\ud83d\udd39 Kerala has already received \u20b93,000 crore this year<\/strong> (\u20b93,500 crore last year).
\ud83d\udd39 Tamil Nadu received \u20b97,300 crore<\/strong>; total allocation expected to exceed \u20b910,000 crore<\/strong>.
\ud83d\udd39 Payments are ongoing<\/strong>, pending amounts will be cleared in a few weeks<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\ud83d\udde3\ufe0f “There is no question of bias. Delays are handled as per MGNREGA law, where states initially pay and get reimbursed by the Centre.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan<\/strong> also defended the government:<\/p>\n

\ud83d\udd39 No state is discriminated against<\/strong>, whether Tamil Nadu or West Bengal<\/strong>.
\ud83d\udd39 Under UPA (2006-2014)<\/strong>, only \u20b9111 crore was allocated for person-days in Bengal<\/strong>.
\ud83d\udd39 Under NDA, \u20b954,515 crore has been allocated<\/strong>, creating 239 crore person-days<\/strong>.
\ud83d\udd39 All pending dues, including material costs, will be cleared soon.<\/strong><\/p>\n
