The gunfight erupted after three civilians, including a woman, reported suspicious movement<\/strong> of infiltrators<\/strong> near a dhok (temporary shelter) in a sprawling Nursery area<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

A local resident, Anita Devi<\/strong>, along with her husband Ganesh Kumar<\/strong> and brother-in-law<\/strong>, first spotted the terrorists while collecting wood in the Nursery area<\/strong>. She described their number as five<\/strong>, though infiltrators typically move in groups of three. According to her, the terrorists attempted to capture her husband and brother-in-law<\/strong>, threatening them with death<\/strong> if they revealed their presence. However, the civilians managed to escape and informed the Village Defence Guards (VDGs) and police<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Security Forces Respond Swiftly<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Following the alert, Jammu and Kashmir Police, Special Operations Group (SOG), Army, and paramilitary forces<\/strong> launched an operation<\/strong>, leading to an intense gunfight<\/strong> near the Nursery. The terrorists opened heavy fire<\/strong>, prompting retaliatory action from security personnel.<\/p>\n

A seven-year-old girl, Anchal Kumari<\/strong>, was reportedly injured<\/strong> during the exchange of fire and was shifted to a local hospital<\/strong>, though the exact cause of her injury remains uncertain<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Top Officials Monitor the Situation<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Senior police officials, including Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat, IGP Jammu Zone Bhim Sen Tuti, and DIG Jammu-Kathua range Shiv Kumar Sharma<\/strong>, are personally supervising<\/strong> the operation to eliminate the terrorists<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The terrorists are suspected to have infiltrated on Saturday night<\/strong>, possibly using a newly created tunnel or a ravine route<\/strong>. Security agencies are also investigating intelligence reports suggesting that two separate groups of 5-6 terrorists each<\/strong> may have entered Indian territory<\/strong>, though confirmation is awaited.<\/p>\n
