Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar<\/em> on Monday expressed his deep gratitude towards leaders across party lines who reached out to his family to inquire about his health during his recent hospitalization for cardiac-related ailments.<\/p>\n

Resuming his duties as the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha<\/em>, Dhankhar shared that he was “greatly touched” by the concern shown by various political figures, which he believes contributed to his speedy recovery.<\/p>\n

“The Leader of the House (Union Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda<\/em>) and the Leader of the Opposition (Mallikarjun Kharge<\/em>) were among the first ones to contact my family. Sonia Gandhi<\/em> reached out to my wife, and several Chief Ministers, including West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee<\/em>, also inquired about my health,” Dhankhar revealed in the Upper House.<\/p>\n

Warm Wishes from Political Leaders<\/strong><\/h3>\n

While narrating his experience, Dhankhar highlighted the unity across party lines during times of personal difficulty. “This has been an enlightenment for me\u2014when such situations arise, our hearts are connected. This will serve as a source of inspiration to me,” he said.<\/p>\n

He further mentioned that Prime Minister Narendra Modi<\/em> visited him at AIIMS Delhi<\/em>, where he was admitted on March 9<\/em> and later discharged on March 12<\/em> with medical advice to take adequate rest. Several other leaders wished to visit but were unable to due to hospital restrictions.<\/p>\n

Lively Exchange with Opposition Leader<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Recalling a lighthearted moment, Dhankhar shared an interaction with Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Derek O\u2019Brien<\/em>. “When I called Derek O\u2019Brien<\/em> to wish him on his birthday during my recovery period, he told me, \u2018Shut up and take rest,\u2019 irrepressible as usual,” Dhankhar said with a smile.<\/p>\n

Back in Action<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Monday marked Dhankhar\u2019s return to the Rajya Sabha<\/em> following his discharge. Welcoming him back, Union Minister JP Nadda<\/em> wished him a speedy recovery, good health, and a long life.<\/p>\n

Leader of the Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge<\/em> also expressed his appreciation for Dhankhar\u2019s dedication to his duties. “I thought the Rajya Sabha Chairman would take another four to six days to return. His enthusiasm and commitment to work are commendable,” Kharge remarked.<\/p>\n
