Tariq Hameed Karra, the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) chief, delivered a powerful message today at an enthusiastic workers’ rally in Doda Dak Bungalow, accusing the BJP-led Centre of breaking promises<\/strong> and flouting Supreme Court directives<\/strong> regarding the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood.<\/p>\n

With the crowd chanting fervently, “Hamari Riyasat Hamara Haq<\/strong>” and “Karra Saheb Aage Bado, Hum Tumhare Sath Hain<\/strong>,” Karra tore into the government’s repeated delays in fulfilling its commitments. “Over five years ago, the Centre assured both the Supreme Court and the people of J&K that statehood would be restored \u2018very soon.\u2019 Yet, here we are, still waiting for a promise that remains broken. This is not just a betrayal of the people of J&K\u2014it’s a slap in the face of democracy and the Constitution,<\/strong>\u201d Karra stated.<\/p>\n

As frustration grows over the government’s inaction, Karra demanded that the Centre honor its pledge<\/strong>, warning that Congress would not hesitate to launch a mass movement<\/strong> if the statehood issue was not resolved swiftly. “We will take to the streets, we will raise our voices, and we will not rest until our rightful statehood is restored,<\/strong>\u201d he declared, receiving loud cheers from the crowd.<\/p>\n

Karra also reflected on the pivotal role<\/strong> Congress played in keeping the BJP in check by forging a coalition with the National Conference (NC)<\/strong>, despite significant sacrifices by party leaders. He warned that those who believe they can defeat the BJP without Congress\u2019 support are making a grave mistake<\/strong>, especially given the BJP’s manipulation of institutions<\/strong> and vast election resources<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In a passionate defense of democracy, Karra brandished the Constitution<\/strong> and sharply criticized the Centre\u2019s recent handling of the appointment of the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC)<\/strong> and Election Commissioners<\/strong>, highlighting the party\u2019s unwavering commitment to constitutional integrity<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, JKPCC Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma raised concerns over the unnecessary restrictions<\/strong> imposed on the Congress convention in Kishtwar, questioning the administration’s fears over the growing public support for the party’s mission.<\/p>\n

Prominent Congress leaders, including Working Presidents Tara Chand<\/strong> and Raman Bhalla<\/strong>, former MP Lal Singh<\/strong>, former MLC Naresh Gupta<\/strong>, DCC President Sheikh Mujeeb<\/strong>, and others, also addressed the rally, reiterating their commitment to the restoration of J&K’s statehood and the protection of democratic rights.<\/p>\n

As the Congress continues to build momentum, Karra\u2019s fiery speech has only intensified the party\u2019s resolve to fight for the people of Jammu and Kashmir, demanding the return of their rightful statehood<\/strong> and the preservation of democratic values<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
