In a continued effort to shape the upcoming budget, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah<\/strong> conducted a series of pre-budget consultations at the Civil Secretariat today, engaging with public representatives from various districts of Kashmir<\/strong>. The meeting included Chairpersons of District Development Councils (DDCs)<\/strong> and Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs)<\/strong> from Srinagar, Ganderbal, and Bandipora<\/strong>, with some participating virtually.<\/p>\n

The discussions were attended by Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani<\/strong>, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo<\/strong>, Additional Chief Secretary Dheeraj Gupta<\/strong>, Principal Secretary Finance Santosh D.     During the consultations, MLAs from Srinagar<\/strong> sought substantial funding for key developmental projects and public welfare initiatives. They highlighted the capital city’s unique needs<\/strong> and discussed several priority areas, including traffic decongestion<\/strong>, parking solutions in downtown Srinagar<\/strong>, and flyover construction<\/strong>. MLAs Ali Muhammad Sagar, Mubarak Gul, Shamim Firdous, Tanvir Sadiq, Ahsan Pardesi, and Salman Ali Sagar<\/strong> outlined their proposed projects, emphasizing community halls, restoration of water bodies<\/strong>, sports infrastructure<\/strong>, and improvements in drainage systems<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

Chairman DDC Bandipora<\/strong> and MLAs from Bandipora, Gurez, Sumbal, and Kangan constituencies<\/strong> shared their focus on crucial infrastructure needs<\/strong> such as fire service stations<\/strong>, upgrading the Bandipora-Gurez road<\/strong> to National Highway status, and allowances for officials<\/strong> in far-flung areas. Additionally, the employment of locals in Hydro Electric Power (HEP) projects<\/strong>, providing critical medical equipment<\/strong> to Bandipora\u2019s health institutions, and creating income-generation opportunities<\/strong> through tourism<\/strong> were also discussed.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    Health, Education, and Infrastructure Improvements<\/strong>
    The discussions also centered on the improvement of health and education<\/strong> facilities, along with the need for further development of roads, water supply systems, power distribution<\/strong>, and irrigation infrastructure<\/strong>. The MLAs stressed that improving these basic amenities would boost the quality of life<\/strong> and attract investment to these districts.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    The meeting also emphasized boosting tourism<\/strong> and expanding youth services and sports facilities<\/strong> in the region.
