He made these remarks at a regional security conclave in Laos on Thursday, attended by representatives from the 10-nation ASEAN grouping and its dialogue partners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking in Vientiane, the capital city of Laos, Singh highlighted India\u2019s long-standing commitment to dialogue as a means of resolving complex international issues, including border disputes and trade agreements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAs the world becomes increasingly polarized, with growing tensions in international relations, it is crucial that we embrace the Buddhist principles of peaceful co-existence,\u201d Singh said. He underscored that these doctrines align with India\u2019s approach to diplomacy, which prioritizes open communication and peaceful negotiation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Singh reiterated that India has consistently advocated for dialogue to address a broad range of global challenges. He pointed out that open dialogue fosters trust, understanding, and cooperation, building sustainable partnerships that contribute to global stability and harmony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Addressing the ongoing Indo-Pacific situation, Singh reaffirmed India\u2019s stance on freedom of navigation, lawful commerce, and adherence to international law. He also expressed India\u2019s support for a fair and inclusive Code of Conduct for the South China Sea, calling for a framework that respects the legitimate rights of countries not involved in the current discussions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Singh stressed that any such code should be fully aligned with international law, specifically the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) of 1982.
