Shah noted that despite these monumental achievements, \u201cefforts were made to erase Sardar Patel\u2019s legacy, and he was deprived of the Bharat Ratna for a long time.\u201d Patel ultimately received the honor posthumously in 1991, 41 years after his death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Shah highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi\u2019s commitment to honoring Patel, which began during Modi&#8217;s tenure as Chief Minister of Gujarat and included the creation of the world\u2019s tallest statue, the Statue of Unity, in Kevadia. Shah praised Patel as a unifying figure and noted that India is now \u201cdedicated to fulfilling the prime minister\u2019s vision of a developed nation by 2047.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The \u2018Run for Unity\u2019 is traditionally held on Patel\u2019s birth anniversary, October 31, which has been observed as \u2018Rashtriya Ekta Diwas\u2019 (National Unity Day) since 2014 to honor Patel\u2019s legacy.
