Government Degree College, Pouni, in collaboration with the J&K Science Technology &
Innovation Council, Udhampur, hosted a two-day awareness program on Clean and Green
Energy Technologies. The program featured a dynamic Poster-making and Symposium events
on August 28th and 29th,2024, respectively, with a focus on the theme ‘Green Innovations
for a Sustainable Future.
Under the visionary leadership of Principal, Dr. Udhay Bhanu, Symposium Committee of
college conducted both the events focused on environmental stewardship and sustainable
practices..
The institution witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across all semesters. The
program , aimed to integrate green practices into the curriculum, foster community outreach,
and establish local partnerships.Shruti Khanna District Coordinator JKSTIC applauded the
enthusiastic efforts made by the team of GDC Pouni for organizing the wonderful Programme
The awareness program kicked offon August 28th with a Poster-making Competition,
drawing around 20 student participants. Their visually captivating posters showcased artistic
talents and innovative ideas, emphasizing the significance of sustainable practices and ecofriendly solutions. Dr. U.S. Liza hosted the event, while Dr. Prem Singh (IQAC Convener),
Prof. Bishan Das (NSS Convener), and Mr. Tanpreet Singh Bagga (Director of Physical
Education) served as jury members.
The judges evaluated the participants based on the clarity and relevance of their posters to the
given topic, as well as how well they explained their content.
On August 29th, the Symposium Competition convened to explore cutting-edge green
innovations. Approximately l5 students engaged in discussions about promoting electric
vehicles (EVs) through initiatives like the National Electric Mobility Mission Plan (NEMMP)
and Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles (FAME). Their
deliberations spanned topics such as mitigating greenhouse gas emissions, the potential of
white hydrogen, and the promising future of green hydrogen.
The program commenced with a warrn welcome from Dr. U.S. Liza. She greeted Chief Guest
Dr. Udhay Bhanu, Principal of GDC Pouni, along with teaching and non-teaching faculty
members and all participants.
During the event, Principal Dr. Udhay Bhanu in his address emphasized education’s role in
shaping responsible citizens. He stressed that innovation isn’t merely a buzzword; it’s a
lifeline. Urging action now, he encouraged breaking free from inertia and not waiting until
2080 to ensure equitable, quality education for all. {n his closing remarks. he expressed
appreciation to the J&K Science Technology & Innovation Council for organizing impactful
events on both day and requested for more such awareness programmes to explore the New
Vision of Sustainabi lity
The two-day awareness program culminated with distribution of prizes and certificates among
