Andhra Pradesh :<\/strong> Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief N. Chandrababu Naidu has decided to take his oath as Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister after Narendra Modi\u2019s anticipated swearing-in as Prime Minister for a third consecutive term, expected on June 9. Naidu aims to invite Prime Minister Modi to his swearing-in ceremony, planning an event as grand as in 2014 when he took office as the first Chief Minister of the \u2018new\u2019 Andhra Pradesh post-bifurcation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During a meeting with newly-elected TDP MPs on Thursday, Naidu mentioned he might take his oath on June 12 and intends to invite PM Modi for the ceremony. Naidu, who traveled to New Delhi on Thursday evening, will attend the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) meeting in the capital on Friday and is likely to stay for the Prime Minister\u2019s swearing-in on June 9. He also plans to invite central ministers and top BJP and NDA leaders to his swearing-in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This invitation is seen as a strategic move by Naidu to solidify his alliance with the NDA, signaling his commitment to a long-term partnership with the ruling coalition. The gesture also aims to send a strong message to the opposition, particularly the INDIA bloc led by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, emphasizing Naidu\u2019s alignment with the NDA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Naidu\u2019s clear stance with the NDA, expressed since the election results were declared, underscores his unwillingness to risk leaving the alliance, especially after rejoining just before the elections. After a five-year gap and facing significant challenges, Naidu seeks to strengthen his bond with the NDA to address Andhra Pradesh’s financial difficulties and to garner support for his administration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aligning closely with PM Modi and his ministers, Naidu hopes to leverage their support to navigate the state’s financial crisis and implement promised welfare schemes. His alignment is also expected to press for substantial assistance from the Centre, particularly for the development of Amaravati as the state capital, a project he initiated in 2015.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Naidu, set to become Chief Minister for the fourth time, seeks the Centre’s backing to fulfill election promises, including free bus travel for women, financial assistance for women and farmers, job creation, and educational support for children. He is also expected to request key ministries and the post of Lok Sabha Speaker for the TDP, along with reiterating the demand for special category status for Andhra Pradesh as per the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act 2014.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reflecting the grand event of his 2014 swearing-in, Naidu plans a similar large-scale ceremony, inviting a prominent array of NDA leaders. In 2014, notable attendees included Union Ministers Rajnath Singh, M. Venkaiah Naidu, and Nirmala Sitharaman, along with senior BJP leaders and Chief Ministers from various states.
