This downward trend was influenced by the upward movement in crude oil prices and the outflow of foreign capital. Forex traders noted that investors were closely monitoring domestic industrial output and inflation data, considering the weak performance of the American currency globally and positive signals from equity markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The rupee opened at 83.28 against the greenback in the interbank foreign exchange but dipped to 83.49 during intra-day trading. Ultimately, it settled at the record low of 83.33 (provisional), marking a 4-paise loss from its previous close. The currency&#8217;s lowest closing level against the dollar was recorded at 83.32 on September 18 of this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Thursday, the rupee had closed at 83.29 against the American currency. The dollar index, which measures the greenback&#8217;s strength against a basket of six currencies, was trading slightly lower at 105.89, down by 0.02 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Brent crude futures, the global oil benchmark, rose by 0.81 percent to reach USD 80.66 per barrel, contributing to the rupee&#8217;s decline.
