People are supporting this campaign a lot. On this occasion, thousands of people signed and supported the demand for establishment of Sanskrit University in Jammu and Kashmir. On this occasion, Mahant Rohit Shastri, head of the trust, said that Sanskrit has been used not only as a medium of instruction but also as a communication language in Jammu and Kashmir for a long time. Buddhism spread in Jammu and Kashmir between 300 and 200 BC. At that time, the importance of Sanskrit in this region can be understood from the fact that while all over India the basics of Buddhism were written in Pali, its teachings were recorded in Sanskrit for the first time in Jammu and Kashmir. At that time, not only students from all over India used to come here to study Sanskrit, but it was also a major center of Sanskrit studies for scholars from other countries of Asia. To restore this era, the trust is demanding establishment of Sanskrit University in Jammu and Kashmir. It should be noted that there are fourteen Sanskrit Universities and three Central Sanskrit Universities in India, the total number of these days is seventeen. And Jammu and Kashmir does not have a single Sanskrit University. Jammu and Kashmir Devvani is considered to be a stronghold of Sanskrit scholars.
