In an effort to bring more and more migrants home during the lockdown, the Railways has now decided to send 1700 passengers in ‘Shramik Special’ trains instead of 1200 and these trains will be halted at three places.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the order issued by the Railways, railway zones have been asked to stop trains at three places besides the destination in the respective states. This decision has been taken at the request of the state governments. It also states that the capacity to carry passengers in the train should be equal to the number of sleeping seats in it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Labor Special trains have 24 coaches and each compartment has a capacity to carry 72 passengers. 54 passengers are currently being carried in each box to follow the distance protocol from social networks. Indian Railways has transported five lakh passengers to their destination since May 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Giving information about the move, a senior official said, \u201cRailways have the capacity to run 300 trains daily and we want to increase it as much as possible. In the next few days we want more and more migrant workers to be brought to their homes and for this we have asked the states to send approval.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
75 percent special trains carrying migrants to UP, Bihar\nShramik Special trains are being operated in different parts of the country to take the stranded migrant laborers back to their home state. In such a situation, three out of four trains are taking migrants to Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. This shows the extent of migration from these two Hindi belt states.\n \nSo far, 44 percent trains have reached Uttar Pradesh and 30 percent Bihar. Ministry of Railways said that Indian Railways operated 366 trains till Sunday afternoon and 287 of them reached their destination.
