Following the extension of former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti\u2019s \ndetention under Public Safety Act for another three months, the \ngovernment today extended the detention of senior Peoples Democratic \nParty (PDP) leader Naeem Akhtar for another three months.
\nThe PDP says such moves are bound to fail and they cannot be alternative to political outreach.
\nEarly this week government booked Mehbooba under PSA after her earlier detention period expired.
\nAkhtar and Mehbooba Mufti were arrested on August 5, 2019, the day the \ncentral government revoked Article 370 and Article 35A of Indian \nConstitution amid lockdown, communication blockade and arrest of \nthousands of people in Jammu and Kashmir.
\nThe government initially booked them under section 107 of CrPc for six \nmonths like other political leaders and after the expiry of the six \nmonths of their detention in February this year, the government booked \nthem under PSA.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
