In remembrance of Bharat Ratna Late. Sh. Rajiv Gandhi, Former Prime Minister of India, the Madan Lal Charitable Trust on Monday held a Plantation Drive at Akhnoor in Jammu to mark his death anniversary. 21st May marks the death anniversary of Rajiv Gandhi observed by people across the country. Former Minister J&K Yogesh Sawhney along with Congress leader Satish Sharma was present at the drive and paid his tribute to the former Indian Prime Minister. Through the drive, plants were distributed for plantation among more than 100 households. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking on the occassion, Sawhney said that he lauded the eco-friendly initiative by the Trust and it was a unique way to honor Rajiv Gandhi Ji. The drive was a huge success, said Sawhney, it helped to spread awareness about environment friendly living. The ideology of Rajiv Gandhi Ji should be passed on through such practical initiatives. He was a champion of modernism & IT in India along with which he also did much for agriculture and environment, Sawhney said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The former Minister also said that Rajiv Gandhi Ji is an inspiring figure for today’s youth. Recalling his achievements, he said that his contributions to the Indian society remain unsurpassed till date. He will be remembered as a true icon of patriotism and on his martyrdom day, all of us mourn his loss, but also fondly remember his legacy, Sawhney added. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Also speaking at the occassion, Satish Sharma encouraged the people to be more aware of the environmental friendly practices and pushed for a drug-free and green lifestyle. He said that following in the footsteps of Rajiv Gandhi Ji, we must all do our best in our capacity for the country. We remember him with utmost reverence and he will continue to inspire the coming generations, Satish added.
