Srinagar, May 13 – With the anticipation of rain and thunderstorm, the night temperature in various regions of Jammu and Kashmir experienced an increase, although remaining below normal in several places. According to a meteorological department official quoted by news agency GNS, rainfall, thunderstorm, and lightning are expected to occur at a few locations in both the Kashmir and Jammu regions over the next 24 hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The official further stated that a brief spell of rain and thunderstorm is expected at isolated places from May 15-16, while there is a possibility of light rain and thunderstorm at scattered places from May 17-19. However, there is no forecast of any significant rainfall for the next week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In terms of temperature, Srinagar recorded a low of 10.9\u00b0C, slightly above the previous night’s temperature of 10.6\u00b0C, and 0.3\u00b0C higher than the normal for the summer capital. Qazigund registered a low of 8.0\u00b0C, lower than the previous night’s 6.0\u00b0C, and 1.2\u00b0C below normal for the gateway town of Kashmir. Pahalgam observed a low of 5.0\u00b0C, compared to the previous night’s 2.6\u00b0C, and was 0.1\u00b0C below normal for the famous tourist resort in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The temperature in other regions included Kupwara at 6.7\u00b0C (3.9\u00b0C below normal), Kokernag at 10.5\u00b0C (1.2\u00b0C above normal), and Gulmarg at 8.0\u00b0C (2.5\u00b0C above normal). Jammu reported a low of 23.5\u00b0C, which was considered normal for J&K’s winter capital. Additionally, Banihal recorded a low of 10.2\u00b0C (0.7\u00b0C below normal), Batote at 14.2\u00b0C (0.4\u00b0C above normal), Katra at 20.1\u00b0C (0.1\u00b0C below normal), Bhaderwah at 11.5\u00b0C (2.0\u00b0C below normal), and Leh in Ladakh at 3.0\u00b0C.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
