The case is related to a health insurance scheme that Mr. Malik was allegedly asked to push, but had cancelled when he was the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir. The CBI had lodged a case last year and conducted raids in six states. On March 23, 2022, a letter was received from a Deputy Secretary of the General Administration Department of the J&amp;K government regarding malpractice in awarding a contract for the Employees Health Care Insurance Scheme. After a preliminary inquiry, the CBI has lodged a case under various sections of the law. Mr. Malik had claimed that he was offered a bribe for clearing files during his tenure as the Governor of J&amp;K. The CBI is expected to visit his home to record his statement and gather more information.
