The ministry of labour and employment on Friday said that the \nemployees provident fund organisation (EPFO), has cleared over 1.37 lakh\n claims across the country amounting to Rs 279.65 crore under the new \nprovisions initiated after the Covid-19 outbreak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the ministry, the remittances have already started \ntaking place. \u201cThe system as it stands today is processing all \napplications which are fully KYC compliant within less than 72 hours,\u201d \nthe ministry said in a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
All members, who have applied for claims in some other category, can \nnow file claims to fight pandemic and depending upon the KYC compliance \ncondition of each member, these claims will be settled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The ministry has also brought in a provision for a special withdrawal\n from the EPF Scheme to fight Covid-19 pandemic as part of the PMGKY \nscheme announced by the government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Under the new government provisions non-refundable withdrawal to the \nextent of the basic wages and dearness allowances for three months or up\n to 75% of the amount standing to member\u2019s credit in the EPF account, \nwhichever is less, is can be withdrawn by the member.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The EPFO has also come out with a new software to fast-track claims \napplied during the lockdown period. The department has also introduced \non-line receipt of the claims.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe application was required to be in paperless form to curtail any \nphysical movement in view of social distancing. It was decided to \nintroduce a system of settling claims in auto mode directly by the \nsystem in respect of all such members whose KYC requirements were \ncomplete in all respects,\u201d the labour ministry said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At present claims for availing advance to fight pandemic are also \nfiled online, which requires every EPF account to be KYC complaint. EPFO\n has also relaxed the date of birth correction criteria to ease KYC \ncompliance enabling submission of claims to fight pandemic online.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As per new norms EPFO will accept the date of birth recorded in the \nAadhaar card of a subscriber as a valid proof for rectification of the \ndate of birth in PF records. All cases with variation in date of birth \nup to three years are now being accepted by EPFO.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
