Amid the spread of the deadly coronavirus COVID-19 and the ongoing \n21-day lockdown, the Centre postponed the National Eligibility cum \nEntrance Test (NEET) UG and Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) (Main) entrance \nexaminations till last week of May. Earlier, the exams were scheduled \nfor May 3, 2020. The exact date will be announced later on after \nassessing the situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAs of now, the examination is proposed to be held in the last week \nof May 2020. The exact date will be announced later on after assessing \nthe situation. Accordingly, the Admit Cards for the Examination which \nwere to be issued on March 27, 2020, will now be issued later on after \nassessing the situation after April 15, 2020, only,\u201d according to a \nstatement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, Union Cabinet Minister for \nHuman Resource Development (HRD) Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank said, \n\u201cSince Parents and Students have to travel to different examination \ncentres, to avoid any inconvenience to them, I have directed National \nTesting Agency @DG_NTA to postpone NEET (UG) 2020 and JEE(Main) till \nlast week of May.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The statement also said, \u201cIn view of the hardships faced by the \nparents and the students due to COVID-19 epidemic, the National Testing \nAgency has postponed the ensuing NEET (UG) May 2020 examination \nscheduled to be held on May 3, 2020. We are hopeful that we would get \nback to normal situation relatively soon; but for now, various concerned\n Ministries and Examination Boards are examining the scenario to \nevaluate the situation that may necessitate any change in the schedule.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe understand that academic calendar and schedule is important but \nequally important is well being of every citizen including students. NTA\n would expect students and parents to not worry about the Examination. \nMoreover, parents are requested to help young students utilize this time\n for preparing for the Examination and focus on critical concepts in \norder to close learning gaps if any. NTA would keep students updated \nabout the latest developments and would inform about changes with ample \ntime,\u201d added the statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
