After revoking the detention of National Conference (NC) leader Omar \nAbdullah under the Public Safety Act (PSA), the Centre is likely to \nrelease the former Chief Minister and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) \nchief Mehbooba Mufti soon.
\nReacting to the reports of her likely release, the Twitter handle of \nMufti (being operated by her daughter) stated, \u201cMy mother is hearing \nreports of her imminent release & is grateful for the concern. But \nshe\u2019s upset about thousands of young boys jailed outside J&K . The \ntrauma their families feel due to COVID outbreak is unimaginable.\u201d
\n\u201cShe is 10 mins away from home but they are hundreds of miles away from \nfamilies & loved ones. She would like to urge @PMOIndia to release \nall detainees immediately,\u201d she added.
\nThe demand for releasing Mufti also received support from Omar Abdullah \nwho had, post his release, tweeted, \u201cIt\u2019s callous and cruel to continue \nto detain Mehbooba Mufti and others at a time like this. There was never\n much justification to detain everyone in the 1st place and none at all \nto keep them detained as the country enters a 3-week lockdown. I hope \nPMO India and HMO India will release them\u201d.
\nThe Jammu and Kashmir Administration had in February invoked the PSA \nagainst former chief ministers Mehbooba Mufti and Omar Abdullah.
\nMufti was put into detention last year along with many senior leaders \nfrom Kashmir, including NC chief Farooq Abdullah, when the Central \ngovernment revoked Article 370 of the Constitution that accorded special\n status to Jammu and Kashmir.
