{"id":2301,"date":"2020-03-10T06:24:16","date_gmt":"2020-03-10T06:24:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/earlypostdaily.com\/?p=2301"},"modified":"2020-03-10T06:24:17","modified_gmt":"2020-03-10T06:24:17","slug":"hc-seeks-govt-response-to-plea-on-shifting-mian-qayoom-to-srinagar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/earlypostdaily.com\/index.php\/2020\/03\/10\/hc-seeks-govt-response-to-plea-on-shifting-mian-qayoom-to-srinagar\/","title":{"rendered":"HC seeks govt response to plea on shifting Mian Qayoom to Srinagar"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Srinagar<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Jammu and Kashmir High Court on Monday directed the government to\n respond to a plea seeking the shifting of the detained Kashmir Bar \nassociation president Mian Qayoom to Srinagar from Tihar Jail, where he \nis lodged, reported <em>The Tribune.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The court also listed the main petition challenging Qayoom\u2019s Public \nSafety Act (PSA) detention for final arguments on March 20,said the \nreport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These directions were passed by a division Bench of Ali Mohammad \nMagrey and Dhiraj Singh Tahakur , which has sought response within 10 \ndays from the authorities on the plea seeking the shifting of Qayoom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to report published by The Tribune said that the \napplication moved by Qayoom through his counsel, it has been submitted \nthat the detained Bar president be shifted from Tihar Jail to Srinagar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In its earlier direction on February 28, the High Court had directed \nthe Tihar jail authorities to produce Miyan Abdul Qayum before the \nMedical Superintendent, AIIMS, at 11am on March 3 with further \ndirections that the Medical Superintendent shall examine all records of \nthe detenue and ensure that his complete medical examination was \nconducted, reported <em>The Tribune<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a separate application about the health of Qayoom, apprehensions \nwere expressed in it by the detained bar president\u2019s counsel and senior \nlawyer ZA Shah with regard to his health and court had, accordingly, \nsought a detailed response from the jail authorities concerned, said the\n report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Qayoom was booked under the PSA on August 7, 2019, on the orders of \nthe District Magistrate, Srinagar, to prevent him from acting in any \nmanner prejudicial to the maintenance of public order. He was directed \nto be lodged at Central Jail, Srinagar, from where he was shifted to \nDistrict Jail, Agra, in Uttar Pradesh and then to Tihar Jail.
