A fresh batch of 25 foreign diplomats, including those from Germany, \nCanada, France and Afghanistan, will be visiting Jammu and Kashmir on \nWednesday to witness the ground situation in the region nearly six \nmonths after the abrogation of Article 370 of the Consitution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This is the second batch of foreign diplomats that will be visiting Jammu and Kashmir in the last one month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to local media reports, the delegation will be meeting \nfruit growers in North Kashmir before reaching Srinagar where they are \nscheduled to meet media representatives, civil society groups and \npoliticians of Jammu and Kashmir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Indian Army will also brief the visiting diplomats on the \nsecurity situation in Kashmir and are expected to give a detailed \npresentation on Pakistan\u2019s involvement in fomenting and sponsoring \nterrorism in the newly-formed Union Territory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to reports, the envoys will have a night halt in Srinagar \nbefore moving to Jammu next day where they are expected to meet \nLieutenant Governor GC Murmu and civil society groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The fresh batch of diplomats also includes EU representatives from \nPoland, Bulgaria and Czech Republic, and their participation assumes \nsignificance as the EU Parliament recently initiated to bring a joint \ndraft resolution on the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and Kashmir, the\n vote on which was later deferred.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Also, the India-EU summit is also slated to take place in Brussels \nnext month where External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will be \nparticipating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Last month, envoys of 15 countries including US Ambassador to India \nKenneth Juster and diplomats from Vietnam, South Korea, Brazil, Niger, \nNigeria, Morocco, Guyana, Argentina, Philippines, Norway, Maldives, \nFiji, Togo, Bangladesh and Peru visited Jammu and Kashmir on January 9 \nand 10 to see first-hand efforts being made by the government in the \nregion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
ANI spoke to some of the envoys who visited Kashmir last month. The \ndiplomats had expressed satisfaction and hoped for the return of \nnormalcy in the region soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Vietnamese Ambassador to India Pham Sanh Chau had said he witnessed \n\u201cnormalcy in the daily lives of the people\u201d during his trip to Jammu and\n Kashmir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI want to say that it was a very worthwhile trip. Seeing is \nbelieving. That has us to have a fuller picture of the situation here,\u201d \nChau had told ANI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMy observation is that we see normalcy in the daily life of the \npeople, which is a very positive sign,\u201d the envoy had said, adding that \nhis interactions with different groups in the region had him felt that \nthey are \u201cvery happy with the current situation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
