{"id":13653,"date":"2021-02-08T13:08:26","date_gmt":"2021-02-08T13:08:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/earlypostdaily.com\/?p=13653"},"modified":"2021-02-08T13:08:29","modified_gmt":"2021-02-08T13:08:29","slug":"pc-wins-ddc-chairperson-elections-in-kupwara","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/earlypostdaily.com\/index.php\/2021\/02\/08\/pc-wins-ddc-chairperson-elections-in-kupwara\/","title":{"rendered":"PC wins DDC chairperson elections in Kupwara"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Peoples Conference on Monday bagged the key post of chairperson of district development council in politically\u2014significant Kupwara district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the election meeting held in Kupwara, PC\u2019s Irfan Panditpuri was unanimously elected as chairman of the district development council while&nbsp;&nbsp; four members from National Conference remained absent from proceedings but they failed to ensure abstentions from three other members from Apni Party, Awami Ittehad Party and an&nbsp;independent candidate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe party was&nbsp; hopeful that three other members would remain absent and force authorities to&nbsp; adjourn election due to lack of quorum but they turned up ,\u201d party sources said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The post of vice-chairperson was also bagged by PC\u2014backed Independent candidate, Hajji Farooq.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the DDC election held in November\u2014December, PC emerged as the single largest party by winning five seats, followed by National Conference with four seats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Two seats went into the&nbsp; kitty of independent candidates while one seat each was bagged by Apni Party and Awami Ittehad Party of Er.
