Following the Supreme Court upholding 2018 amendments to the SC\/ST \nAct, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi targeted the BJP and RSS claiming that\n they are against reservations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
BJP & RSS\u2019s ideology is against reservations. They never want \nSC\/STs to progress. They are breaking the institutional structure, Rahul\n Gandhi said on Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Saying it is in DNA of RSS and BJP to try and erase reservation, \nRahul Gandhi said, I want to tell SC\/ST\/OBC and Dalits that we will \nnever let reservations come to an end no matter how much Modi ji or \nMohan Bhagwat dream of it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Supreme Court on Monday upheld the constitutional validity of the\n SC\/ST Amendment Act, 2018, and said a court can grant anticipatory bail\n only in cases where a prima facie case is not made out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A bench headed by Justice Arun Mishra said a preliminary inquiry is \nnot essential before lodging an FIR under the act and the approval of \nsenior police officials is not needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Justice Ravindra Bhat, the other member of the bench, said in a \nconcurring verdict that every citizen needs to treat fellow citizens \nequally and foster the concept of fraternity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Justice Bhat said a court can quash the FIR if a prima facie case is \nnot made out under the SC\/ST Act and the liberal use of anticipatory \nbail will defeat the intention of Parliament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The SC verdict came on a batch of PILs challenging the validity of \nthe SC\/ST Amendment Act of 2018, which was brought to nullify the effect\n of the court\u2019s 2018 ruling, which had diluted the provisions of the \nstringent Act.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
