- In Budgam, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah vacated his seat on October 21, 2024, after opting to retain his Ganderbal seat. The National Conference appears to be well-positioned to contest in Budgam, although the party has yet to announce its official candidate.
The ECI’s decision to send Central Observers aligns with its commitment to maintain election standards. The Commission has rolled out 470 officers, comprised of 320 from the IAS, 60 from the IPS, and 90 from other services, across Bihar and the selected assembly segments.

Looking at the broader electoral context, the ECI is expected to announce the schedule for Bihar Assembly elections by mid-October. Furthermore, the Commission has set October 24, 2025, as the date for biennial elections to fill four vacant Rajya Sabha seats from Jammu and Kashmir.
