Amaravati, Nov 22 : Andhra Pradesh BJP president D Purandeswari on Friday raised concerns over the allegations against the Adani Group, as reported by US authorities, and claimed that all individuals connected to these allegations have ties to the Congress party.
Business tycoon and Adani Group chairman, Gautam Adani, has been accused by US prosecutors of playing a role in an alleged bribery scheme worth USD 250 million to Indian officials, aimed at securing favorable terms for solar power contracts. The Adani Group has denied these allegations.
Purandeswari, in a post on X, said, “The recent allegations from the U.S. SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission) against the Adani Group have raised serious questions… and all individuals linked to these allegations are associated with the Congress party, none with the BJP.”
She went on to point out the alleged connections between the Congress and various political entities, including the DMK government in Tamil Nadu, the erstwhile YSR Congress government in Andhra Pradesh, the previous Congress-led government in Chhattisgarh, and the former BJD administration in Odisha.
The BJP leader further claimed that between July 2021 and February 2022, Power Sale Agreements (PSAs) were signed in several states, including Odisha, Jammu and Kashmir, Tamil Nadu, Chhattisgarh, and Andhra Pradesh, with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), which she suggested were linked to the bribery claims.
Purandeswari also alleged that the SEC investigation implicated former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and other officials, further tightening the links between Congress and the alleged corruption.
Additionally, she suggested a personal connection between Adani and Sonia Gandhi’s son-in-law, Robert Vadra, and questioned how Congress, led by Rahul Gandhi, could hold the BJP accountable for the alleged scams.
