Srinagar, May 11: Sajad Gani Lone, Chairman of the People’s Conference (PC) and candidate for the Baramulla Lok Sabha constituency in Jammu and Kashmir, has been served an ECI notice for allegedly violating the Model Code of Conduct (MCC). The notice pertains to a video posted by Lone on his X handle without prior clearance or pre-certification from the Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC).
According to the notice issued by the District Electoral Officer (DEO) of Kupwara, Sajad Gani Lone has been asked to provide an explanation for the violation. The notice states that Lone, as the candidate for the Baramulla constituency, is required to explain why the video was uploaded without the necessary clearance.
The notice further specifies that Lone must respond within one day. Failure to do so will result in the matter being reported to the office of the Chief Electoral Officer in Jammu and Kashmir, Srinagar, for appropriate action under the rules.
