LG Sinha reaffirms commitment to strengthen PRIs for better efficiency and effectiveness in J&K

JAMMU, Apr 24: In a recent development, the Lieutenant Governor (LG) of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, has expressed his strong determination to make the Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) more powerful, efficient, and effective in the Union Territory.

During a review meeting held in Srinagar, LG Sinha reaffirmed his commitment to empowering the PRIs by providing them with adequate resources and administrative support. He emphasized that strengthening the grassroots level democratic institutions is crucial for ensuring inclusive development and participatory governance in J&K.

The meeting was attended by several senior officials, including the Chief Secretary, the Director-General of Police, and the Divisional Commissioners of Jammu and Kashmir. LG Sinha directed the officials to undertake a comprehensive assessment of the existing infrastructure and resources of the PRIs and develop a roadmap for their capacity building.

Furthermore, the LG stressed the need to streamline the functioning of the PRIs and ensure their active participation in the planning and implementation of development projects. He also highlighted the importance of generating awareness among the people about the role and responsibilities of the PRIs in the developmental process.
