Ahead of polls in Punjab, two sitting Congress MLAs Fateh Jung Bajwa from Qadian and Balwinder Singh Laddi from Shri Hargobindpur, Cricketer Dinesh Mongia, and three times Shiromani Akali Dal MLA from Baluana Gurtej Singh Ghudhiyana with his supporters joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in New Delhi today.
They all joined the BJP in the presence of the party’s Punjab election in-charge and Union minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat.
Interestingly, the two sitting Congress MLAs who joined BJP giving big jolt to the Punjab Congress in the Majha region of Punjab were strongly backed by Punjab Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu as a candidate for ensuing polls in their political rallies.
Fateh Jung Singh Bajwa who is younger brother of Congress MP Partap Singh Bajwa was upset after his elder brother Partap Singh Bajwa announced to contest from Qadian. It was amid this tussle with Partap that Sidhu had backed Fateh Jung’s candidature.
