Amid unvaccinated students and increasing number of microcontainment zones JJSF demands online examinations for all.
Jammu, 17th December 2021: – Jammu Joint Students Federation has strongly condemned the entering of police inside the campus of GGM Science College Jammu. Students of college were at the peaceful protest demanding Online Examinations. The protest of students was totally peaceful and inside the campus. They did not cross the college gate and neither attempted to do any unlawful activity but still the heavy police deployment was made inside the college campus.
Rahul Sharma, activist of JJSF and student of GGM Science College speaking on the occasion said that it is very strange that without any valid reason Principal GGM Science College has called the police inside the college campus. He said we were on the peaceful protest for the last two days and we have not done any unlawful activity which may lead to such a situation. He said police cops even entered inside the classrooms which created a sense of insecurity among the peaceful studying students. He said peaceful protest is a democratic right of students and suppressing them using large deployment of police shows the failure of the Principal of college to handle the situations.
Anshu Sharma, JJSF leader while addressing to media said it is very unfortunate that to suppress the peaceful protesting students College administration is using such means. He said in his student life he had never seen the police entering the campus in this much number and that too for suppressing the peaceful protesting students. He said this has become the habit of Principal GGM Science College to use Police force whenever students of the college raise their voice for their genuine issues. He said that college and university administration has gone adamant and instead of resolving students’ issues they are using police everytime. He said students were demanding online examinations because most of them have studied in online mode and maximum students are not vaccinated who are made to sit in physical exam. He said daily DC Jammu is declaring new areas as micro containment zones and many students appearing in exams are coming from the same areas.
Atul Sudan Vice President Jammu Joint Students Federation appealed to DGP Jammu to look into the matter of what conditions led to the entry of such a large number of police cops inside the campus that too in the classrooms. He further lambasted the attitude of Principal GGM Science College to handle the peacefully protesting students. He said when there was nothing unlawful done inside the college and when students did not try to come out of the college gate to block the road or create ruckus then what was the need of the Principal to call the police inside students. He said that the Principal is forcibly trying to suppress students’ voices which is unacceptable.
Sudan said that students have high respect for Jammu and Kashmir but their entry in unmannered ways inside classrooms. HE alleges that college administration instead of resolving the issues of students is trying to create a sense of fear among them. He further warned college administration that JJSF will not tolerate such behaviors with students and will come on roads if further college administration tries to use force on peacefully protesting students.
