15 days after Jaish-e-Mohammed killed 4 terrorists in Nagrota, J&K, the National Investigation Agency said today that it had taken over command of the November 19 incident. The officials gave this information here. A senior NIA official associated with the investigation that the matter was handed over to the Anti-Terrorism Investigation Agency following a notification issued by the central government. It is also investigating another encounter case that took place in January at the same location.
On 19 November, four Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists hiding in a truck were killed in an encounter with security forces near Nagrota on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. 2 policemen were also injured during an encounter with terrorists. According to NIA officials, an encounter between militants & security forces started around 5 am at the Ban Toll Plaza. Within the next 3 hours, the militants were killed.
A team of NIA officials visited the Ban Toll Plaza site after the encounter and recorded statements of eyewitnesses and police officers on the same day. The NIA is also investigating an encounter in Nagrota on 31 January this year in which 3 JEM terrorists were killed at the same toll plaza.
