A meeting of Jammu Municipal Corporation officials was held under the chairmanship of Public Health Sanitation Committee, Baldev Singh Billawaria to maintain the cleanliness in the wards of Jammu city. This meeting was held on the basis of zones. On the first day, the meeting was attended by the corporation officers of Jammu West Zone, on the second day the corporation officers of Jammu East and on the third day the corporation officers of Gandhi Nagar Zone. The officials of the Health Sanitation Wing and Transport Wing of all the 75 wards of the city put their reports and issues before the chairman. In the meeting, the officials explained in detail about the cleaning system being affected due to shortage of sanitation workers, lack of hawks and autos. On which Billawaria assured them that the Municipal Corporation would provide them with adequate amounts of autos and hawks, as well as some more sanitary workers in the coming days. However, he encouraged all officers to take user charge from their wards from every house and shop. But officials confabulate the chairman that people are not aware of the user charge. They raise many kinds of questions about it. In such a situation, the corporation will have to make people aware of the user charge through advertisements about it, for what they have to give the user charger per month and in case of non-payment what will be their loss. The officials also raised the issue of their uniforms and their safety equipment along with the shortage of the cleaning staff. He assured the officers to give uniforms and their safety equipment to the sanitation workers at the earliest. Billawaria said that he would put these issues before the Mayor and the Corporation Commissioner. He said that our first task is to provide better facilities to the general public and in this direction we all have to give extra time so that the city can be cleaned on the smart city pattern as soon as possible.
He directed the officials that along with the need to be vigilant with the covid-19. we also have to make people aware that the war against the corona epidemic is not over yet we have to wear masks, maintain social distance until medicines are made. He also urged the people to cooperate in the appeal of the mass movement by the Prime Minister against Covid-19.
