3 more lives claimed in Kashmir, J&K toll rises to 211

Kokernag woman tested positive after death. Hundreds participated in her funeral.

3 more covid-19 related deaths were reported in Kashmir valley, increasing the fatality count as the toll rises to 211.
2 fatalities were reported from SKIMS Soura including a 65 year old man from Khwajabagh Baramulla and his age mate from Serhama Anantnag. The third fatality is a 60 year old woman from Sanbari Kokernag who tested positive three days after her death at GMC Anantnag.
Regarding the fatality from the North Kashmir district, a senior doctor at SKIMS told that the patient was admitted on July 7 as a case of bilateral CAP (community acquired pneumonia), Type 1 Respiratory failure and severe ARDS.
Having hypertension as comorbity, the covid-19 patient died at 6:40 a.m. due to “cardiopulmonary arrest”, the doctor said.
The 65 year old man from Serhama had multiple problems, said the doctor.
Regarding the 60 year old woman from Kokernag, her sample was taken on Jul 10 and tested positive late last night. “ A number of people participated in her ‘Ghusl’ while hundreds participated in her funeral. She died around 11 p.m. on July 13 and we took body the other day.” a family member said.
Adding to this the family member further said that nobody at the GMC Anantnag or any official from the district told them to follow covid-19 related guidelines or measures. Later they were told that there would be testing of the family members.
This reports to 193 deaths in Kashmir and 18 in Jammu so far.
Srinagar district with 50 deaths has the highest fatalities followed by Baramulla with 45, Kulgam with 23, Shopian with 17, Anantnag with 17, Budgam with 15, Kupwara with 11, Jammu with 11, Pulwama with 7, Ganderbal with 4, Bandipora with 3, and Doda with 2. One death each has been reported from Poonch, Udhampur, Rajouri and Kathua.
