Kupwara 22 May: In its continued efforts towards women empowerment and fostering the sports culture among the women in Kupwara, Indian Army’s Kupwara Terriers have organised Inaugural match for Kupwara Women’s T-10 Cricket Championship 23 (Season-III) for various teams of Kupwara district. First and 2nd seasons of this Championship were played in 2021 & 22 respectively.
This year the championship has gained more popularity among the local girls and a total of 230 players from 20 different teams of Dist Kupwara are participating in the Championship. The inaugural match was played between Legends Sports Club,Handwara and Shooting Star club from Drugmulla, which was won by Shooting Drugmulla in a convincing manner. Second match of the day was played between Aabid Sports, Awoora and BHSS, Trehgam. BHSS Trehgam Hirri defeated Aabid Sports Awoora by 9 wkts.
The teams are comprised of girls between the age group of 12 to 25. The players showed exceptional zeal and excitement. The participants thanked Kupwara Terriers for providing the girls this opportunity to showcase their talent.
