Jammu, 6 May 2023 : In a significant development, Prof Manoj Singh Gaur, Director, IIT Jammu, and Prof Rajiv Prakash, Director, IIT Bhilai, joined hands to strengthen ties and promote collaborative research and academic exchange between the two prestigious institutes. The momentous occasion took place at IIT Jammu in the presence of esteemed dignitaries from IIT Jammu, including Prof Bijoy Boruah, Dean; Dr Vinay Sharma, Associate Dean; and distinguished members of faculty, namely, Dr Ashok Bera, Dr Nitin Joshi, Dr Kantak Ghosh, and Dr Biswanth Chakraborty.
At the outset, an engaging dialogue was initiated by Prof Gaur and Prof Prakash with the faculty members, discussing the immense potential for collaborative technological and scientific research across various sectors. The discussions centered on a translational approach aimed at leveraging the resources available in India, including both natural and human resources, to benefit local industries and other fields. The interactive conversation highlighted the shared commitment of both institutions to drive innovation and contribute to societal progress.
A key highlight of the meeting was the unanimous agreement between Prof Gaur and Prof Prakash to facilitate the exchange of students between IIT Jammu and IIT Bhilai. This exchange program aims to provide students with opportunities for coursework, research-oriented study, and valuable internship engagements. By fostering such collaborations, both institutes seek to broaden the horizons of their students and nurture a culture of cross-institutional learning.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Prof Prakash expressed a keen interest in inviting faculty members from IIT Jammu to IIT Bhilai, facilitating a vibrant exchange of knowledge and expertise. Prof Gaur reciprocated the sentiment and emphasized the mutual benefits that can be derived from such collaborations.
The meeting concluded on a positive note, with a cordial acknowledgment of the mutual appreciation for the value of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and the bright prospects it holds for an enduring relationship of progressive collaboration between IIT Bhilai and IIT Jammu.
